Abortion: The Battle of Our Age

• A perfect storm is brewing in Canada right now to reopen the long-silenced debate on abortion and so now is the time to step up our efforts to fight for the unborn in the culture and the public square.

  This conference is dedicated to inspiring, equipping, and mobilizing Nova Scotia’s pro-life supporters to foster a deeply engaged and effective movement for life in this province.

  The heinous fruits of abortion in our society are horrifying a growing number of Canadians and we need to be ready to mobilize them in the fight for life.

  Our society’s acceptance of abortion has gotten to the point that “pro-choice” arguments are increasingly being applied to call even for infanticide.

  In September, a judge in Alberta let a woman walk free after she strangled her newborn son and threw him over a fence – the judge argued that Canada’s absence of a law on abortion signals Canadians sympathize with the mother rather than the child.

  And in February, a prestigious medical journal ran a piece by two ethicists calling for the legalization of “after-birth abortion.”

  But Canadians are not going to stand for it any longer.

  An October poll by Environics showed 72% of Canadians want legal protection for children in the womb, and 28% supporting protections from conception.

  If we’re going stave off the advance of the culture of death, with evils like infanticide and euthanasia, then we need to get active in promoting a culture of life.
