1. 2007 Conference In Moncton To Feature Fun Events! - April 15, 2007
Moncton Right to Life is hosting the 2007 national conference next
October 25 to 27 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Moncton, New Brunswick. Here is the latest news from conference organizers about what to look forward to:
· Besides a host of 13 top speakers, our 2007 national pro-life conference will feature a number of special activities
· Since Moncton is situated by the Atlantic coast, and nearby Shediac is the "lobster capital of the world," Thursday morning will feature a 2.5-hour seaside cruise around beautiful Shediac Bay, with onboard lobster lunch. The boat is heated and sheltered from the elements, the crew will regale us with lobster tales, so come on board! Expected cost approximately $60. Limited seating.
· For early bird registrants (by Sept. 25), you will have a chance to win a cold pack of Atlantic lobster for you to bring back home (6 or more lobster, $100 value)!
· Since Moncton and region is home to a large Acadian population, our conference will have a certain Acadian flavour. The world-famous Acadian folk choir Les Jeunes Chanteurs d'Acadie will perform on Friday evening. The nearby (walking distance) spiritual centre for Acadians, the Notre Dame de l'Assomption Cathedral, will be the site of daily masses for pro-life intentions.
· Another special activity is the Friday prayer vigil at nearby Georges Dumont Hospital, one of two hospital abortion sites in New Brunswick.
/Weather note:/ Fall is one of the most beautiful times to visit the
Maritimes. Typically lots of sun, and our fall colours are spectacular!
2. CWA Says Abstinence Prevents Teen Pregnancy - May 2, 2007
On National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Day - Choose Success, Choose Abstinence
WASHINGTON, May 2 /Christian Newswire/ - The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (NCPTP) has designated May 2 as National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Day. The NCPTP campaign offers teens all sorts of glitz, products for sale and a quiz designed to inform them about the dangers of teen pregnancy. They also warn teens against the unrealistic expectations of abstinence programs.
"The problem is," says Dr. Janice Shaw Crouse, Director and Senior Fellow of Concerned Women for America's (CWA) Beverly LaHaye Institute, "warnings about abstinence programs fly in the face of their concern about teens' well-being. During the heyday of condom-based programs, the rates of teen sexual activity, teen births and teen abortions grew. With the wider use of abstinence programs, all the trends have reversed direction and are going down. This reversal of trends in teen sexual activity, births and abortions is a remarkable achievement that the NCPTP ought to be celebrating. Further, the successes of the abstinence programs ought to be acknowledged, and teens should be encouraged to commit to abstinence. Could it be that business goals take precedence over the best interest of the teens they are supposed to serve?
"Our culture scoffs at chastity and is shocked to find teenage girls pregnant," Crouse continued. "Programs that teach primarily contraception as a means of prevention largely ignore teaching values. This divorce of values from sexuality leads to a diminished respect for oneself, human life and sexuality in general. Abstinence programs, on the other hand, have been successful in reducing teen pregnancy and abortion as well as sexual activity and provide an opportunity to discuss value-based sexual activity."
Dr. Crouse has just released an important study, "Why the Left is Attacking Abstinence Programs," which uses official government data to track the three trends (teen sexual activity, teen births and teen abortions) to show the dramatic reversal in the trends that coincides with the wider use of abstinence-based programs across the country.

3. Euthanasia Cases Have Not Fallen In The Netherlands? - May 10, 2007n
By Alex Schadenberg, executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition
A recent report published in the New England Journal of Medicine (May 10, 2007)
has been reported by the media as stating that the practice of Euthanasia in
the Netherlands has dropped since it was formally legalized in 2002.
When reading the actual report we learn of a different reality than the media
has reported.
The report states that in 2001, the year before euthanasia was formally legalized
in the Netherlands, there were approximately 3500 (2.6%) euthanasia deaths,
there were approximately 300 (0.2%) assisted suicide deaths and approximately
8500 (5.6%) deaths by terminal sedation (sedation followed by dehydration).
The report states that in 2005 there were approximately 2325 (1.7%) euthanasia
deaths, there were approximately 100 (0.1%) assisted suicide deaths and approximately
9685 (7.1%) deaths by terminal sedation. It seems that the decreased incidence
of active euthanasia was replaced by the incredible increase in deaths by terminal
sedation in the Netherlands.
The other fact in the new study is that approximately 550 (0.4%) of deaths
resulted from the ending of life without explicit request. These numbers are
not part of the euthanasia numbers because they lack the requirement of voluntary
request and therefore they are placed in a separate category. This number appears
to have remained steady since 2001.
The practice of terminal sedation needs to be separated from decisions to sedate
patients without the explicit intention of causing death. In 2005 there were
another 1.1% of deaths whereby the patient was sedated without the explicit
intention of causing death.
Terminal sedation often represents slow euthanasia, instead of normal end-of-life
care. When someone who is not otherwise dying, but unlikely to recover, such
as Terri Schiavo, the decision to sedate and intentionally dehydrate the person
to death results in death by dehydration. Since the intentional cause of death
is dehydration and not an underlying medical condition, therefore these deaths
fulfill the traditional definition of euthanasia, which is the intentional causing
of death, by action or omission, for reasons of mercy.
Since the Netherlands defines euthanasia as only the voluntary active cause
of death, therefore cases of terminal sedation are not considered to be part
of the total euthanasia practice.
The actual number of intentionally caused deaths may, in fact, be higher. The
report states that 80.2% of all euthanasia deaths in 2005 were reported, which
is up from 54.1% in 2001. Nonetheless, the report admits that most of the under-reporting
is related to deaths that resulted from the use of opioids to intentional overdose.
The media continues to lack honesty in their reporting of the actual number
of intentionally caused deaths in the Netherlands and euthanasia continues to
be out-of-control. Therefore in 2005 there were approximately 12,660 (9.3%)
intentionally caused deaths in relation to all deaths in the Netherlands. This
does not represent a decrease in intentionally caused deaths but rather a continuation
of a sad history of intentionally causing the death of people who are at their
most vulnerable time of their life.
4. Here Is A German Editorial - Europe; Thy Name Is Cowardice - May 10, 2007
Check It Out
At: Snopes
If any of you still feel that this war on terror is a mistake, here is
an opinion from an unexpected source. It's fascinating that this should come
out of Europe. Mathias Döpfner, (RJ), Chief Executive of the huge German
publisher Axel Springer AG, has written a blistering attack in DIE WELT, Germany
's largest daily paper, against the timid reaction of Europe in the face of
the Islamic threat.
This is a must-read by all Americans (and Canadians - RJ). History may well certify its correctness.
Europe - Thy Name Is Cowardice
(Commentary by Mathias Döpfner CEO, Axel Springer, AG)
A few days ago Henry Broder wrote in Welt am Sonntag, " Europe - your family name is appeasement." It's a phrase you can't get out of your head because it's so terribly true.
Appeasement cost millions of Jews and non-Jews their lives, as England and France, allies at the time, negotiated and hesitated too long before they noticed that Hitler had to be fought, not bound to toothless agreements.
Appeasement legitimized and stabilized Communism in the Soviet Union, then East Germany, then all the rest of Eastern Europe, where for decades, inhuman suppressive, murderous governments were glorified as the ideologically correct alternative to all other possibilities.
Appeasement crippled Europe when genocide ran rampant in Kosovo, and even though we had absolute proof of ongoing mass-murder, we Europeans debated and debated and debated, and were still debating when finally the Americans had to come from halfway around the world, into Europe yet again, and do our work for us.
Rather than protecting democracy in the Middle East, European
Appeasement, camouflaged behind the fuzzy word "equidistance," now
countenances suicide bombings in Israel by fundamentalist Palestinians.
Appeasement generates a mentality that allows Europe to ignore nearly 500,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace movement, has the gall to issue bad grades to George Bush... Even as it is uncovered that the loudest critics of the American action in Iraq made illicit billions, no, tens of billions, in the corrupt U.N. Oil-for-Food program.
And now we are faced with a particularly grotesque form of appeasement. How is Germany reacting to the escalating violence by Islamic Fundamentalists in Holland and elsewhere? By suggesting that we really should have a "Muslim Holiday" in Germany?
I wish I were joking, but I am not. A substantial fraction of our
(German) Government, and if the polls are to be believed, the German people,
actually believe that creating an Official State "Muslim Holiday"
will somehow spare us from the wrath of the fanatical Islamists. One cannot
help but recall Britain 's Neville Chamberlain waving the laughable treaty signed
by Adolph Hitler and declaring European "Peace in our time".
What else has to happen before the European public and its political leadership get it? There is a sort of crusade underway, an especially perfidious crusade consisting of systematic attacks by fanatic Muslims, focused on civilians, directed against our free, open Western societies, and intent upon Western Civilization's utter destruction.
It is a conflict that will most likely last longer than any of the great
military conflicts of the last century - a conflict conducted by an
enemy that cannot be tamed by "tolerance" and "accommodation"
but is actually spurred on by such gestures, which have proven to be, and will
always be taken by the Islamists for signs of weakness. Only two recent American
Presidents had the courage needed for Anti-appeasement: Reagan and Bush.
His American critics may quibble over the details, but we Europeans know the truth. We saw it first hand: Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War, freeing half of the German people from nearly 50 years of terror and virtual slavery. And Bush, supported only by the Social Democrat Blair, acting on moral conviction, recognized the danger in the Islamic War against Democracy. His place in history will have to be evaluated after a number of years have passed.
In the meantime, Europe sits back with charismatic self-confidence in the multicultural corner, instead of defending liberal society's values and being an attractive center of power on the same playing field as the true great powers, America and China.
On the contrary - we Europeans present ourselves, in contrast to those "arrogant Americans", as the World Champions of "tolerance", which even (Germany 's Interior Minister) Otto Schily justifiably criticizes. Why? Because we're so moral? I fear it's more because we're so materialistic, so devoid of a moral compass.
For his policies, Bush risks the fall of the dollar, huge amounts of
additional national debt, and a massive and persistent burden on the American
economy - because unlike almost all of Europe, Bush realizes what is at stake
- literally everything.
While we criticize the "capitalistic robber barons" of America because they seem too sure of their priorities, we timidly defend our Social Welfare systems. Stay out of it! It could get expensive! We'd rather discuss reducing our 35-hour workweek or our dental coverage, or our 4 weeks of paid vacation... Or listen to TV pastors preach about the need to "reach out to terrorists. To understand and forgive".
These days, Europe reminds me of an old woman who, with shaking hands, frantically hides her last pieces of jewelry when she notices a robber breaking into a neighbor's house.
Appeasement? Europe, thy name is Cowardice.

5. Is Ottawa Making Guinea Pigs Of Canadian Girls? - April 30, 2007
Dear Communiqué Readers,
You may have missed the weekly Communiqué from your mailbox a few times. The intention is to reduce its frequency and to keep you informed by regular News Releases. These Releases are an opportunity for you to challenge the local press with your letter to the editor, or a phone call to make them aware of its existence. Here is one from yesterday.
Cor Labots, Edmonton
News Release April 30, 2007 CHP National Office - Ottawa
Is Ottawa Making Guinea Pigs Of Canadian Girls? - April 30, 2007
April 30, 2007: The federal government has allocated $300 million in its 2007 budget for a proposal to vaccinate our daughters and granddaughters against a disease that can cause cervical cancer. The plan targets adolescent and pre-adolescent girls for a vaccine called Gardasil. Gardasil is a recently-developed vaccine for human papilloma virus (HPV), a viral infection that has become a virtual epidemic because of sexual promiscuity.
Merck-Frosst developed Gardasil, and has been promoting it to
governments in Europe and North America for the vaccination of
young girls-girls as young as nine, in some jurisdictions-in spite
of the fact that it has never been tested on children that young,
and in some women among whom it has been tested, it has had serious side effects.
The proposal for universal vaccination of young girls
-and boys, too, in Austria-is hopefully intended to eradicate
the virus, without trying to change the behaviour that spreads it.
Universal vaccination of children for a sexually transmitted
disease opens the door for unintended consequences, for it also
telegraphs the dangerous message that says, "Society expects
you to behave promiscuously; we don't believe you can learn
to behave responsibly, so the government will take care of the
consequences of your irresponsible behaviour."
That's a bad and dangerous message.
And there may be another reason for promoting mandatory Gardasil vaccinations: Vioxx.
Vioxx was an inadequately-tested pain-killer, marketed by Merck, that apparently caused heart attacks and strokes. Lawsuits from Vioxx cost Merck more than a billion dollars.
Canadians should ask whether Ottawa's Gardasil campaign is
an attempt to bail Merck out after the Vioxx disaster. Certainly,
the similarly premature government promotion of Gardasil is
the wrong answer.
It is also alarming to learn, from an Ottawa Citizen report, that
a former policy advisor to Prime Minister Harper is the point-man
for Hill & Knowlton, one of Canada's biggest lobbyists, to promote Gardasil
for Merck.
Our daughters and granddaughters should not be the guinea-pigs
in an attempt to bail out Big Pharma. The $300 million allocated
by Ottawa for Gardasil means Canadian taxpayers will be
expected to foot a quarter of an international Merck bail-out.
And Canadian girls would be the victims.

6. Lifeissues.net Newsletter #322 - May 6, 2007
Dear Friends for Life,
It's heart breaking to see the poignant loss of life and the anguish of people. Everything in the news these days seems to be about violence, how violent society has become, how dangerous we are going to be someday. Many would have us believe that death and misery are the current trends and future conditions of humanity. Can violence be prevented?
As far as some psychologists are concerned, violence prevention should start in the womb. David Chamberlain, one of the pioneers responsible for creating the new field of prenatal and perinatal psychology, said that violence has pre-natal roots. Child development experts now widely believe that children are most susceptible to learning violent behavior in their first two to three years of life. But many are developing a keen interest in an expanding body of research that indicates the foundations for aggression may be set even during gestation. An expectant mother's stress level, nutritional habits, use of drugs and alcohol, and exposure to environmental toxins, may hardwire the fetal brain into a state of hyper vigilance or aggression, studies show.
Another powerful factor favoring later criminal behavior is a failure of attachment and bonding between parents and babies. Many children may enter life without such an attachment, feel no intimate, safe, and loving connection with anyone, and have no concern for other people's feelings, posing a high risk of criminal violence.
Hope for humanity begins in the womb. The true foundations of civilization and chaos, health and illness of both individuals and societies are laid during the days we spend in the wombs of our mothers. What happens there eventually determines what happens in the world.
God bless, Marlon Castillo Ramirez, Assistant Editor
(A Quote:) "Children are both brave and fearful. They'll walk up to a stranger and say something true that a grown-up would fear to say. But they are also subject to terrors, some of them irrational, and to anxieties. They need a stable platform on which to stand. From it they will be likely to step forward into steady adulthood. Without it, they will struggle; they will be less daring in their lives because life, they know, is frightful and discouraging. We are not giving the children of our country a stable platform. We are instead giving them a soul-shaking sense that life is unsafe, incoherent, full of random dread." - Peggy Noonan, "We're Scaring Our Children to Death".

Focus On Asia: The question of what constitutes death is at the center of a medico-legal debate in China with important implications for organ transplants, a senior health official said on Saturday. In April, China issued its first regulation on human organ transplants, aimed at banning organ trade in any form and regulating the country's huge organ transplant market. It will go into effect on May 1.

Item #1. Fertility Drugs Hit Sperm Of Offspring
Sperm counts in the first generation of men born after their mothers
received fertility treatment appear to be nearly 50 per cent lower than in men
conceived naturally.
The world's first study looking at the fertility of children born after their mothers received fertility treatment two decades ago has found their sperm concentration was 46 per cent lower, and sperm counts 45 per cent lower than in other men.
Nearly 2000 Danish men volunteered to be examined as part of the research. In addition to having lower sperm counts, the 47 men whose mothers said they had conceived following fertility treatment were also found to have smaller testes, fewer sperm that "swam" as they are supposed to, and more sperm cell deformities compared with the other men.
The effect was more exaggerated in the 25 mothers who identified their form of fertility treatment as hormonal therapy - most likely to have been anti-oestrogen drugs to stimulate follicle growth and ovulation. Experts say almost all women receiving fertility treatment in Australia receive similar drugs.

Item #2. "We Are An Army Opposed To Abortion,"
Says President Of El Salvador
The president of El Salvador, Elias Antonio Saca, said this week, "In El
Salvador, we are an army of defenders of our Christian faith, we are an army
opposed to abortion," in commenting on the recent approval of a law that
legalizes abortion in Mexico City.
"Those of us who love life, those of us who believe in God, those of us who believe in life cannot be in favor of abortion in any form," the president said, adding, "I respect what has happened in Mexico, I am not going to meddle in the internal decisions of the Mexico City congress."

Item #3. Window To The Womb
Last week, antiabortion activists won their biggest victory in 40 years: a Supreme
Court decision upholding the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act. This week, they
announced their next target. They want bills that, in the words of Douglas Johnson
of the National Right to Life Committee, "require the abortionist to offer
the woman an opportunity to view an ultrasound" of her fetus.
For the activists, this segue is logical. For the court, it means trouble. It threatens to unravel the latest judicial compromise and, with it, Roe v. Wade. In its April 18 ruling, the court treated abortion like an obscenity - something that could be done but not out in the open. "Partial-birth" abortions, the court reasoned, could be banned because they occur outside the woman's body. Other abortions need not be outlawed, because the womb conceals them.

Item #4. Pro-life Group Protests Amnesty International's
Proposed Abortion Policy
Women for Life International has joined the protest of Amnesty International's
proposal to adopt a stance in favor of abortion. The pro-life group sent a letter
to Amnesty International Executive Committee members informing them of their
position.
Since the human rights organization put 'reproductive rights' on its agenda, numerous other pro-life groups have sent Amnesty International (AI) a similar message.
AI's history has been to defend the very basic right to life and liberty of all human life, Women for Life noted. Adoption of a pro- abortion policy seriously undercuts the right to life through the destruction of other, less defenseless, human life.
"Women for Life International is looking to AI to protect all women and children, born and pre-born, from the violence and exploitation of legal abortion," said the organization's written statement.

Item #5. Marriage In The Age Of Divorce
Along with the Post-it notes on my refrigerator is an old cartoon from The New
Yorker magazine. It shows two terribly chic elderly couples who seem delighted
to be bumping into each other at a cocktail party. One of the women speaks:
"It is unbelievable how time flies: All of our children are divorced, too."
The national divorce rate hovers around 50 percent of all first marriages, matching - remarkably - the odds of pure chance. And make no mistake: If divorce qualifies as subject matter for a New Yorker cartoon, it has moved from private tragedy to public joke. Because my favorite definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome," I suggest that the institution of marriage as we know it needs to be redesigned.

Item #6. Church, State Face Showdown On Abortion
In Mexico City
The Archdiocese of Mexico City has warned health-care workers that they could
be excommunicated for performing abortions. In the fact of new legislation making
the procedure legally available in the capital district, the archdiocese issued
a statement urging all Catholics, and others of good will, "not to be responsible
for this abominable act." The statement went on to remind health-care workers
that "they can invoke their human right to conscientious objection."
The Church statement appeared likely to cause a showdown with local government officials, who insisted that doctors would be obliged to perform abortions. Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard, a strong supporter of the new abortion law, said that Catholic doctors could not be exempt. "Doctors must adhere to the law notwithstanding their religious convictions," the mayor said. "We have to serve the public," he insisted, adding that doctors must do "what the law orders them to do."

Item #7. German Scientists "Manufacture"
Human Sperm
A team of scientists in Germany have "manufactured" human sperm from
bone marrow, raising the prospect of mass-producing sperm that can be used in
IVF treatment or to restore fertility to men made sterile by cancer therapy.
Such applications are still many years away. But scientists hope to grow fully formed sperm cells in as little as three years.
The research, conducted in Germany, has been published in the journal Reproduction: Gamete Biology.
The team led by Professor Karim Nayernia, from the University of Goettingen, first took bone marrow from male volunteers. From the samples, they isolated mesenchymal stem cells, which have previously been shown to grow into body tissues such as muscle.

Item #8. Planned Parenthood Confesses To Committing
More Abortions Than Ever
Planned Parenthood operates the most proficient killing machine in the United
States," said Douglas R. Scott, Jr., president of Life Decisions International
(LDI). "Planned Parenthood claims to prevent the 'need' for abortion while
simultaneously working to increase its share of the lucrative abortion market."
"In 2005 alone, Planned Parenthood accepted money to put a 'hit' on 264,943 preborn human beings," Scott said. "And just like other paid killers, a failure to slay the intended victim would have been considered 'a complication.'" The 2005 figure represents an increase of 3.9 percent over 2004.
Planned Parenthood has confessed to having sold 1,245,506 "emergency" birth control kits in 2005 (nearly 26.6 percent more than in 2004). Every Planned Parenthood "clinic" dispenses "emergency" birth control. Most prescribe it over the phone and accept orders over the Internet, without conducting an examination. In the vast majority of cases, "emergency" birth control causes an abortion.

Item #9. Study: Lesbians More Than Twice As Likely
To Be Overweight And Obese
A study to be published in the June issue of the American Journal of Public
Health has found that "lesbians have more than twice the odds of overweight
(odds ratio [OR]=2.69; 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.40, 5.18) and obesity
(OR=2.47; 95% CI=1.19, 5.09) as heterosexual women."
Researchers compared population estimates of overweight and obesity across sexual orientation groups using data from the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth with a study sample of almost 6,000 women.

Item #10. World Bank Battles Over "Reproductive
Health"
A battle broke out at the World Bank this week, with Europeans fighting to keep
"reproductive health services" and abortion in one of the bank's development
strategies over repeated US objections, the Catholic Family and Human Rights
Institute (C-Fam) reports.
World Bank representatives from France, Germany, Italy, and Norway fought to keep out language proposed by US representative Whitney Debevoise during discussions on the bank's strategy for Health, Nutrition and Population Results, reports Samantha Singson in C-Fam's Friday Fax. The row thwarted any decision and discussions stall.
The talks over the strategy document grew heated when the US objected to language on "reproductive health services, including abortions." The US proposed to change the phrase "reproductive health services" to "age appropriate access to sexual and reproductive health care," but the Europeans charged that the US phrasing would deny access to young women.

8. Pro-Life Activist Joe Scheidler Finally Cleared Of Racketeering Charges - May 8, 2007
CHICAGO, May 8 /Christian Newswire/ - "I've waited twenty-one years for this news!" said Joseph M. Scheidler, National Director of the Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League.
On May 8, 2007, Federal Judge David Coar issued his Final Judgment in NOW v. Scheidler, the federal lawsuit brought by the National Organization for Women under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act in June 1986.
"In spite of an 8-1 victory in the United States Supreme Court on February 26, 2003 and a unanimous victory from the High Court on February 28, 2006, the Final Judgment was delayed until today," said Scheidler. "I am no longer a federal racketeer.
"Throughout the twenty-one year battle, we never allowed the legal issues to interfere with our mission of saving lives," said Scheidler. "Our capable legal team, led by Thomas Brejcha of the Thomas More Society, Pro-Life Law Center, handled the Courts, while we remained on the front lines of the fight for life.
"NOW and the abortion centers tried everything they could to stop us," said Scheidler, "but in the past twenty-one years, hundreds of abortion providers have quit, over a thousand abortion clinics have closed, numbers of abortions have dropped significantly and public opinion has shifted to pro-life. We have won in every quarter. And our mission continues until abortion becomes history."

9. Rick Warren, Purpose-Driven Pornography? - May 4, 2007
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., May 4 /Christian Newswire/ - Chris Rosebrough, who heads the Christian Accountability Network, and authors the blogs ExtremeTheology.com and ALittleLeaven.com, is calling on Pastor Rick Warren, author of the Purpose-Driven Life to discipline media mogul, Rupert Murdoch for owning and expanding a network of pornographic channels in Europe.
Said Rosebrough, "Rupert Murdoch is a born-again Christian and Rick Warren claims to be his pastor. As a Christian, Murdoch is committing an egregious sin by owning, expanding and profiting from pornographic channels and Rick Warren, as his pastor, has a Biblical duty to call Murdoch to repentance and/or put him out of the church."
"Sadly, Murcdoch's actions have already damaged his credibility as a Christian" said Rosebrough. "If Pastor Warren does not act swiftly and call on Murdoch to dismantle his porn distribution network, then the credibility of the Christian message will be compromised around the globe."
According to Rosebrough, "This is a clear case of a Christian openly committing a monstrous and unthinkable sin. The Bible clearly states in 1 Corinthians 5 that when a Christian brother is openly and unrepentantly engaging in sins of this magnitude the church must discipline that person. As his Pastor, Rick Warren has a Biblical duty to call Murdoch to repentance for this sin and/or put him out of the church."
Some speculate that the reason that Warren hasn't already acted on this is because Murdoch's News Corp owns Zondervan, the company that published Warren's run away bestseller The Purpose-Driven Life. Said Rosebrough, "Warren and Zondervan are currently working on an updated and revised edition of the Purpose Driven Church. That book is scheduled to be released later this year. We hope that Warren's business ties to Murdoch's company haven't clouded his judgement and impacted his resolve to carry out his Biblical duty as Murdoch's Pastor."

10. Strong Review For State vs. Church - May 4, 2007
News release - May 4, 2007
Strong review for "State vs. Church"
RUSSELL, ON - Saskatchewan blogger Lee Harding has just written a strong and important review of "State vs. Church" for which I am very grateful. You can read the complete review on his blog at http://eternalee.blogspot.com/2007/05/state-vs-church-canadian-style.html.
Mr. Harding writes (emphases mine):
"Timothy Bloedow's book, State vs. Church, is a solid reproof of secularist myths and a resolute proclamation of Christianity's ideological superiority in the public sphere. Secularism is a religion, Bloedow explains, one as belief-imposing, freedom-robbing, and irrational as anything its proponents claim Christianity to be. The author gives example after example, some within the calendar year, of how secularism is stealing the freedom and society of Canadians. But Bloedow distinguishes himself by putting forward some ideas not as often espoused.
Bloedow's main thesis is that Christianity has a paradigm for government that neither the public nor many Christians have understood, let alone defended. In the Christian paradigm, government is divided between civic government, religion, and family. Government sets the laws, religion governs worship and morality, and family governs the sphere of marriage, parenting, etc. As Bloedow explains, secular humanism puts man as God and the state as the final arbiter of everything, obliterating the place for religion and family. If the populace properly understood the Christian and secular models of government, it would choose the Christian one. However, Bloedow admits, "such a model requires a substantial level of homogeneity of belief in the populace in order to achieve long-term and sustained success" (182). ...
There are some lesser points along the way I found quite valuable. For one, "equality before the law" does not mean that each group should be treated equally; it just means that no one is above the law. He also has a useful list of (il)legal actions against Christians in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K....
My brief overview doesn't do this book justice. So, get your copy at http://www.christiangovernment.ca.

11. Vellacott Commends House Of Commons Passage Of Bill C-22 To Raise The Age Of Protection - May 7, 2007
Maurice Vellacott, MP for Saskatoon-Wanuskewin
For Immediate Release
OTTAWA - Today, Saskatoon-Wanuskewin Conservative MP Maurice Vellacott made the following statement in the House of Commons:
Mr. Speaker, Friday, May 4 was a great day for Canada. The House of Commons passed important legislation that will protect potential victims of sexual assault by increasing the age at which youth can consent to sexual activity. This will better protect them against sexual exploitation from adult predators.
The Conservative government provided the leadership necessary to pass this legislation after many years of stalling by previous governments.
The Age of Protection legislation, as adopted by the House of Commons, proposes to raise the age at which youth can consent to sexual activity from 14 to 16 years of age.
This measure, which is supported by grieving parents and police forces, provides much-needed protection for children victimized by sexual predators. We are giving our police officers a tool they need to combat this victimization of teenagers.
The Age of Protection bill marks an important step toward strengthening our child protection laws and brings Canada's age of consent into conformity with that of many other like-minded countries.
We urge the Senate to give Bill C-22 a speedy passage.

12. World Congress Of Families Reacts To Mexico City's Unconstitutional Abortion Law - May 8, 2007
MEDIA ADVISORY, May 8 /Christian Newswire/ - World Congress of Families International Secretary Allan Carlson expressed "dismay" over a move by Mexico City to legalize abortion during the first trimester.
"In reality, Mexico City has legalized abortion in the entire country," Carlson observed. "If the law goes into effect, women anywhere in Mexico can come to the capital for an abortion - hence, de facto, countrywide legalized abortion. This notwithstanding that Mexico's constitution requires the state to defend human life 'from conception to its natural end.'"
Said Carlson: "The leftists who control Mexico City's assembly are trying to force their will on every Mexican." Polls show seven in ten Mexicans oppose abortion on demand.
Mexico's College of Catholic Lawyers plans to complain to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (part of the Organization of American States) about this gross violation of both human rights and democracy.
Currently the only Latin American states, which permit abortion on demand, are communist Cuba, Guyana and the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Mexico's City's assembly has also legalized homosexual civil unions and is pushing for legalization of euthanasia. "Clearly, the City's government is under the misimpression that it is the Mexican Congress," Carlson commented.
World Congress of Families III was held in Mexico City's Banamex Convention Center in 2004. Mexico will also send the third largest delegation to World Congress of Families IV, which convenes in Warsaw, May 11-13.
World Congress of Families is committed to upholding the sanctity of human life, "from conception to natural death."

The World Congress of Families (WCF) is an international network - of pro-family organizations, scholars, and leaders - that seeks to restore the natural family as the fundamental social unit and the 'seedbed' of civil society. The WCF was founded in 1997 by Allan Carlson, president of The Howard Center. To date, there have been three World Congresses of Families - Prague (1997), Geneva (1999) and Mexico City (2004). WCF IV will be in Warsaw, Poland, May 11-13, 2007.
The Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society located in Rockford, Illinois is an independent, non- profit research and education center that strives to be the leading source of fresh ideas and new strategies for affirmation and defense of the natural family, both nationally and globally. The Howard Center is also the organizer of the World Congress of Families project, which unites people of goodwill who recognize that the family is the fundamental unit of society and coordinates the efforts of pro-family groups from more than 60 countries worldwide.
