Seasoned with Salt
107 babies saved so far
Greetings!
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. -

"Seasoned with Salt"

This is a good way to introduce Michael Coren - a man whose conversation is "seasoned with salt."
Michael will be the guest speaker at the gala fundraising dinner for Campaign Life Coalition on Saturday, April 24.
The dinner will be held at the Atlantic Ballroom of the Westin Hotel in Halifax.

Tickets are $100 per person;  gasp! you say, I won't pay or can't pay $100 for a dinner!  But it is not just a dinner that you are buying.

A fundraiser is an opportunity to make a donation to a worthy cause; and in return you are given a dinner and also given a scintillating talk by a very smart man.  So you are really doing three things with your money:  supporting a pro-life organization, getting fed and hearing an inspiring speech.

And if you book an entire table of ten, your ticket price is then $85.

There are several groups that are taking tables of ten; I think it would be great if there were one or two tables there of 40 Days for Life people.

If you are interested in attending this event, email me and let me know and I will get your ticket to you.

Many people wait until the very last minute to commit to an event;  but I ask you to please consider deciding before then;  the organizers (which would be CLC board members, myself included) are beholden to the hotel for a certain number of meals, plus the expenses of bringing Michael here from Ontario.  If you wait until April 15 to buy a ticket, that leaves us hanging and wondering if we are going to make it.  Please don't put this off;  this is a very worthy organization and you won't get the opportunity to hear this man again if you don't come.

Michael Coren is the only mainstream journalist in Canada who dares to express his Christian beliefs as loudly as he does.  He is unafraid to come out with Biblical principles, amongst which are the sanctity of life for all from conception to natural death, the support of traditional marriage between one man and one woman, the importance of the family in society, along with basic truth and honesty and hard work.  If there is another public figure in this country who speaks as boldly as Michael, please let me know who he is.

I believe that this man is a marvellous example of someone who is living his faith without regard for the consequences.  Michael is respected by all those whom he has on his television show, even those he disagrees with. He is fair and respectful to all, including those whose views he does not share.  But he is not afraid to tell them that he believes they are wrong.  And, if you have heard the man argue, you know that he really comes off the best in most situations.   He is intelligent, well read, and well-informed on a host of topics.

And most importantly for us, Michael is extremely pro-life.

You have an opportunity to hear this man in person.  Just think of all the times you have spent the same or more money on something that wasn't worthwhile.  I know I have spent that much on a pair of shoes that turned out to be terribly uncomfortable.  This money goes to PRO-LIFE!  Your ticket purchase will help Campaign Life Coalition to continue its work, which is defending life from conception to natural death.  CLC works in the political realm, contacting elected officials to discuss life issues and to find where they stand on these issues.  CLC also organizes both Life Chain in the fall and March for Life in the spring, as well as backing 40 Days for Life  - these are the three public pro-life events in our province.   Also, CLC supports student pro-life endeavours, helping to bring in speakers for the university students to challenge their thinking on life issues.  This is extremely important work, as the young generation is pretty-much "unchurched" and has grown up accepting legalized abortion as the norm.   CLC is attempting to inform and educate the next generation that what is legal is not necessarily moral.

Once again, I ask you to support this cause and buy a ticket for the dinner.  If we don't get sufficient sales by mid March, we will have to cancel the event, something we don't want to do.

Don't let committing to a ticket scare you off - you will not be disappointed in this dinner, I assure you.

I know there are at least ten people out there who want a ticket for this, and if you email, you can buy it for $85.  Don't procrastinate.

107 Babies Saved So Far!

From David Bereit:

I can tell you that thus far in this 40 Days for Life campaign, 107 babies have been saved from abortion ... that we know of!  Judy in La Puente, California said a young man walked up to 40 Days for Life vigil participants to thank them for being there. "Because he had seen us outside praying, he had the courage to convince his girlfriend not to have an abortion," she said. "You just never know how many others never get to the abortion site because of our presence. Praise God!"

Keep up with the latest news from 40 Days for Life, which is being held right now in 167 cities, seven of those cities in Canada.  I have been in touch with the campaign director in Montreal and he has given me some great tips for our next campaign which will be in the fall of 2010.  We are aiming at covering more hours in our next campaign and I am personally hoping to double our numbers.

Meanwhile, please continue to pray for an end to abortion in our city, in our country, and pray for the girls who find themselves pregnant and scared.  That fear is their greatest enemy, it is that fear that drives them to have an abortion.  Pray that they will have the courage to look at their other options, because when girls can think clearly about their options, they often turn away from abortion. And turning away from abortion saves the life of their baby, but it also saves their life from guilt and pain and regret.

and, at the top right hand corner, you will see a place to submit your email address. That's all you have to do and you will begin to receive the daily prayers and reflections if you are not already receiving them.

That's all the news for now.
God bless,
Julie Culshaw
